A Message from the Canadian Coast Guard (DFO), Notices
to Mariners Web Administrator

The Canadian Coast Guard would like to encourage our notmar clients to visit the http://www.notmar.comhttp://www.notmar.ca web site to download their Monthly Notices to Mariners information. Users wishing to update their charts can do so by downloading the paper version or by setting up a "User Profile" on the site. This feature permits users to register which nautical charts they have in their possession. Registrants are automatically notified by e-mail when a Notice to Mariners is published concerning these. or

To create a Notmar User Profile go to page http://www.notmar.ca/charts/index.php and click on the tab called "My Charts". This will bring you to page http://www.notmar.ca/charts/mycharts.php where you click on the bottom link called "Create New Profile". Simply fill in the fields required (i.e. name; organization; e-mail address and ensure that the e-mail notification is set at "yes"). Then list the charts of interest and submit. To find out more about creating/editing your profile please visit page http://www.notmar.ca/help/help_e.php of the site for further details.

Once your profile is created, and you choose to visit it in the future, you would simply go to page http://www.notmar.ca/charts/mycharts.php and enter your password and e-mail address to log on.

It's important to note that this feature only sends amendments, which have been finalized from the date of setting up the profile. It does not send archived amendments. Still, a nice feature to have! To modify the information within your profile click on the link, within your profile, "manage profile" where you can modify the information if necessary.

Again, if your chart requires corrections, which precede 1996, I suggest you contact the Canadian Hydrographic Service Department. They will be able to assist you with this matter. The person to contact would be Mr. Rick Mehlman at (613) 995-4584 or MehlmanR@dfo-mpo.gc.ca . See the Canadian Hydrographic Service web site at http://www.charts.gc.ca
