MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Regular Member
: available to anyone who passes the "Boating" exam or an active member of the US Power Squadrons.

Family Member: anyone who qualifies as a Regular Member, and is an immediate family member of and resides in the same dwelling of a Regular Member, or is a dependant of a Regular Member.

Associate Member: available to anyone who passes the "BoatPRO" exam. No voting privileges. Associate members may not fly the CPS Flag. Associate members may become "Regular" or "Family" member upon successful completion of the "Boating" exam.

Junior Member: anyone under the age of 18 who qualifies as a Regular Member. A Junior membership ceases at the end of the membership year in which he/she reaches the age of eighteen.
 
  Life Member: two categories Past Chief Commanders and members who have been awarded twenty merit marks. Exempt from future dues. (Merit marks are earned for service etc).
 

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

The membership year for the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (CPS) runs from May 1 to April 30. During the month of March, each current member receives an invoice for the next year's dues from the CPS National Headquarters (HQ).  These should be paid by the end of May to keep your membership in good standing.

AFTER July 01, 2007
All that pass the “BOATING” exam will receive a CPS Regular Membership for one year
All that pass the “BOAT PRO” exam will receive a CPS Associate Membership for one year

OPSS Annual Membership Fees as of January 1st, 2008) are:

  • Regular Member: $50.00
  • Family Member: $25.00
  • Associate Member: $50.00

NOTE: Paid up CPS Regular/Family and Life Members are allowed to fly the CPS Flag or OPSS Burgee!

Contact the Membership Officer for Special Rates for the following;
  • Junior members
  • Rejoin after lapsed membership
  • New members who join more than one year after completing the Boating course

CPS membership in good standing is required if you wish to participate in any advanced courses that we offer.
